Every EU country uses the same 30-day rule, but the member states chose different options for progressive reductions and new products. Cartnorm has a profile for each of the countries below, plus an EU default for all others.
| Country | Further reductions | New products (less than 30 days on sale) |
|---|---|---|
| Poland | Each one gets a new reference price | Lowest price since first offered |
| Spain | Each one gets a new reference price | No prior price needed on first sale |
| Belgium | Progressive, up to 30 days | At least 7 days of history |
| Netherlands | Progressive, up to 3 months | Shorter period, stated in the notice |
| Italy | One campaign keeps its reference | Real number of days stated |
| Germany, Austria, France, Czechia, Sweden, Portugal, Ireland, Romania | One campaign keeps its reference | Lowest price since first offered |
Progressive reductions means a price lowered in several steps in one uninterrupted campaign, for example –10%, then –20%, then –30%. Where allowed, all steps keep the reference price from before the first step. Any price increase ends the campaign.
New products: in the Netherlands and Italy the notice states the actual number of days, for example “Lowest price in the 12 days before the discount”.
You can override the progressive rule in Settings.
This table describes how Cartnorm implements each country's rules. It is not legal advice. Some national rules, for example for perishable goods, are not automated; use the per-product exemption where your law allows it.
